About us
LAPA Publishers has been in existence since the 1940’s and employs 32 people - eight of these in the publication section. Most staff members are employed in an administrative capacity since a large part of the company’s sales is through direct mail order.
Of the 210 titles that are published per year, 60 are children’s books. Currently books for children and teenagers generate 27% of the company’s income. Both fiction and non-fiction are published, with half of the titles written and illustrated by local authors and artists. The other half is made up by co-editions with mostly British publishing companies such as Macmillan, DK and Priddy Books.
Our Children’s Book Editors
The children’s book publishers are Miemie du Plessis and Jaco Jacobs. Jaco works mostly with series and non-fiction and Miemie is responsible for all other titles.
