In 1995 I participated in modules in Children’s Book Illustration at the Corcoran School of Art Washington DC. In 2002 my book, Wild Iris Herbal Handbook, was published by Quivertree. It is a quirky but informative guide to the uses of herbs. The illustrations are much loved by both adults and children and it was well received by the media. I have written and illustrated for the Gardener’s Almanac 2004, 2005, and 2006. In 2005 I illustrated The Coma Detective for the NPO, ComaCARE; a story to help children with a friend or family member in a coma. It is published on their website. I am also a freelance writer for various magazines, having written on parenting, gardening and other general interest topics. I have a passion for children’s books and have always been actively engaged with children. From mid-1993 to the end of 1994 I worked as an assistant teacher at The Children’s Place Montessori school, followed by a period as an au pair in Washington D.C. I am a mother to three children: a stepson of 14, and two children aged four and seven. My company, Crocodile Cards, which makes greeting cards for children with my illustrations, supplies several major bookshops, gift shops and children’s outlets.
