Alzette Prins has a BA Fine Arts and a BA Honours degree from the University of Stellenbosch. During the course of her studies, her brochure design for the Oude Libertas Amphitheatre’s Summer Program won a SPAA award (New York 1991).
Since 1995, she has been working as a freelance illustrator for local educational and trade publishing houses on illustration projects ranging from educational readers to children’s picture books. Her editorial illustrations also appear in a variety of publications.
Abroad, her illustrations have been commissioned by My Table magazine, Houston, William M. Mercer, New York and Harcourt Educational, Oxford. She also worked as a faux artist for an interior design firm in Houston. Her studio is situated on her family’s farm near Franschoek in the Winelands district.
