Zibele Sisusa

sisusa.jpg (28482 bytes) Zibele Sisusa was born on December 22 1964 at Mphumaze location in the district of Qumbu in the Eastern Cape. He attained his primary education at Ngcolekeni Junior Secondary School and matriculated at Qumbu Village Senior Secondary School in 1982.

After working for six months as a packer at Spargs Wholesalers at Qumbu, he got employed as a 

labourer at the Department of Works and Energy in the former Republic of Transkei.After a year he joined the Department of Justice as a clerk, working at the magistrate's office at Lady Frere.

Currently he is a head of administration at Ntabethemba magistrate office in the former Ciskei. He is also studying for his diploma in Public Relations Management with Technikon SA.He says about his writing: "The sudden death of my elder brother in 1985 prompted me to take a pen and write an article to Bona Magazine entitled 'Death, I hate you'.

Since then I started to write a number of articles for different magazines. From writing magazine articles I then started to write radio plays for the former Radio Transkei and the present Umhlobo 

Wenene Radio. I also worked as a freelance journalist in the news department for Radio Transkei."

Zibele’s first book for young adults, Isahluko Sokugqibela, written in Xhosa won the Sanlam Silver Prize for Youth Literature in 2000.

He is married to Nombasa Petelo, a teacher (currently unemployed), and they have a boy of four years, Mihiali. They live at Ezibeleni in Queenstown.
