At this conference, organised by the Children’s Literature Research Unit of Unisa, the organisers will try to bring authors and illustrators, publishers, academics, representatives of the book trade, library world and education together to talk about the state and future of Afrikaans children’s and young adult literature.

Authors and illustrators who already indicated that they will participate are Marianna Brandt, Leon de Villiers, Philip de Vos, Carina Diedericks-Hugo, Piet Grobler, Barrie Hough, Martie Preller, Riana Scheepers and George Weideman.

The Katrine Harries Award for Children's Book Illustrations will be presented to Jude Daly during the conference.

The papers will be presented in Afrikaans.
